IIHF World Championships 2015

16:15pm (CET)
Czech Republic vs France

Over 5.5 goals (1.90 pinnacle)

To start the new blog off I'm going for an overs pick in the preliminary round of the ice hockey world championships between tournament hosts Czech Republic and France.

The match is at the O2 arena in Prague and the atmosphere is electric for every Czech game with tickets selling out within minutes (at ridiculous prices). The Czech games have been high scoring so far with their opening 5-5 draw with Sweden ending in a penalties defeat and their recent 6-3 loss at the hands of Canada which followed a 4-2 defeat of Latvia. A return of 4 points from the opening 3 games isn't ideal but it's by no means catstrophic. Canada was always going to be tough but they should have put the Sweden game to bed in the first period. The pressure for a top 4 finish is slowly mounting and failiure to beat France in regular time today would be a nightmare.

France really do need to go for the win today if they are to stand a chance of the play off round and I expect them to be quite positive from the off. They know the Czech defence is prone to error and will try to exploit that with the Treille brothers coming up against some former teammates.

The Czechs will concede but should have too much for the French. Czechs to score four today, which is easily achievable with the form of Jagr and Dominik Simon, should see this goal line cleared.

2 points stake
