I've been gambling since I was 18 and during that time I've experienced some highs and A LOT of lows. I've tried every system, strategy and tipster under the sun. Between 2010 and 2013 I ran two websites, a trading website and a betting website. I enjoyed the community and researching bets but the pressure that came with tipping games didn't suit my personality. I didn't really enjoy that aspect of it.
After 13 years gambling I have discovered that the aformentioned strategies, systems and tipping sites are useless. The key to joining the very small group of successful gamblers is good money mangement and value. I now consider myself to be successful and I make a good extra income through my gambling exploits.
I have decided to start this blog so others interested in gambling can follow what I do and also to keep myself focussed. I won't be tipping. Every blog post will be after event. The reason for this is I don't consider myself any better than anyone else. I have a good money management strategy. That's it.
What is my strategy?
Well, first of all I make money in two areas. The first area is sports betting, almost always on football and ice hockey. The second area is taking advantage of bonuses and reload offers provided by bookmakers. If I think an offer has even value I will do it.
For sports betting I use one company and one company only. Pinnacle Sports. The reason is simple, they are the best in the business. They offer excellent odds, they don't close or limit accounts, they have high limits and some good lines which I can't get with other bookmakers.

The strategy is simple.
- You need a betting bank which you can afford to lose. For this blog I am starting with £400 as I think it's a reasonable ammount for the average bettor to start with.
- I use a 3 step positive progression.
- For step 1 I bet at minimum odds of 1.4, step 2 minimum odds of 1.8 and step 3 minimum odds 1.9. Obviously I try to have most of my bets around evens but those odds are the minimum I go to if something screams out at me.
- The positive progression means I am successful if I win 3 bets in a row.
- The starting stake at step 1 is the maximum I can lose in any progression.
- The starting stake should be no higher than 2% of the current betting bank. The stake goes up every time the bank increases by £50.
- If a bet loses I start again at step 1.
Example
- My betting bank is £400. I find a bet for step 1. The odds are evens (2). I use 2% of my betting bank for the stake (£8).
- If the bet loses my balance is now £392 and I start again with an £8 stake at step 1. I only adjust the stake to £7 if my balance reaches £350.
- If the bet wins my balance is now £408 and I find a new bet for step 2.
- I find a bet at odds of evens (2) and my stake is £16 (Original £8 plus step 1 winnings).
- If the bet loses my balance is now £392 and I start again at step 1.
- If the bet wins my balance is now £424 and I need to find the final bet (step 3) around evens and use a stake of £32.
- If it loses my balance is £392 and I start agin, if it wins my balance is now £456 and I start a new progression.
You can see how safe my strategy is. It would take around 7 losses to wipe out 1 win and an all but impossible amount of losses to wipe my bank. The numbers are on my side which almost guarantees long term profit.
The only way to lose with this staking plan is to fail on discipline. I won't do that. I've fel into that hole hundreds of times over the last 13 years and when you aren't going anywhere and constantly starting again it gets frustrating.
What type of bets?
I only bet on football and ice hockey. Most bets are in the goals or corners markets and I usually select a line such as 'over 2' or 'over 5' as opposed to the usual 'over 2.5' lines offered by the main bookmakers. The reason is I get my stake back if that amount of goals are scored. I usually enter the market around 60 mins for those bets in football or around 10 mins if I'm betting on first half goals. All hockey bets are pre match.
I will explain more in my daily blog posts as I go through the previous days action.
What are bookmaker offers?
These are the daily email you get from the garbage companies (coral, william hil, bet365 etc) that try to get you to bet with them and use free bets to entice you. First of all...if you bet regularly with one of these companies you aren't a good bettor. If you were they would close your account. I've lost a few accounts just by doing bonuses (888 Casino being one) but I still use a few of them to take advantage of the offers. Ladbrokes regularly offer a £25 free bet if your bet loses. I can bet and lay the free bet off on a betting exchange for guaranteed risk free money. There are also casino offers which most people avoid. Some of these are excellent and can help grow your betting bank. I look through the offers and decide whether it has any value (taking into consideration wagering requirements etc) before doing the offer. Some are risk free, some just low risk. I will explain all of these offers with screen shots on the blog after I do them.
The aim?
My goal is to start with £400 and build it up using my betting strategy and some offers, compounding profits until my bank is around £3000. I will then use that as my base bank and withdraw monthly winnings.
All results will be kept in a spreadsheet for you to look at (Starting today) and I will post screenshots and info of my previous days work on the blog.
I hope you enjoy it. If you see how I spot opportunities and how I use the offers I'm sure you can improve your own betting. I'm not perfect so if you have any advice for me feel free to get in touch!
